Beauchamp C. Carr

Beauchamp Carr is Executive Vice President in charge of development and the unofficial Woodruff Center historian. Carr has been on staff since 1977, when the organization was known as the Atlanta Arts Alliance. Prior to joining the Alliance, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, worked for Citizens and Southern National Bank, and served as a US Army First Lieutenant in Vietnam, where he earned a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Commendation Medal.

Carr is a walking archive about Woodruff Center and the Atlanta arts community. A trustee and executive committee member of Atlanta Landmarks/The Fox Theatre since 1976, Carr served as president of that non-profit for 12 years, when he led the Save the Fox campaign. Other current memberships include Atlanta Rotary, and the boards of the Atlanta Speech School, Very Special Arts Georgia, Georgia Citizens for the Arts, and the National Coalition of United Arts Funds.

He has been named one of five Outstanding Young People in Atlanta by the Atlanta Jaycees, and is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta.

Carr is married to Talela Newsom Carr and has three children, Trevor, Georgia, and John.
