Edward (Ed) Brownlee became Director of Facilities of the Woodruff Arts Center in June 2013. In this role, Ed oversees the facilities management, property management, project management and building operations of the Center. Prior to this role, Ed was Vice President of Facilities Operations for Turner Properties, the real estate, facilities and project management organization of Turner Broadcasting System. As VP, he oversaw global facilities operations for Turner.
Before joining Turner Broadcasting, Ed served as a Commander in the U.S. Navy and was a Surface Warfare Officer. His naval career spanned 20 years with service aboard warships, at the Pentagon and overseas as Detachment Chief Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ed is a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He earned his Masters of Science degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California.
Mr. Brownlee’s professional affiliations include an appointment by the Mayor of Atlanta to the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency Board, memberships with the International Facilities Managers Association, Building Owners and Managers Association, Kiwanis Club of America and the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association. He has served on advisory boards of the National Center of Civil and Human Rights, the Medal of Honor Foundation Banquet Committee, and the Fulton County Arts Facilities Panel. He attended the Executive Leadership Development Program of the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications at UCLA’s Anderson School of Business. Ed lives in Smyrna, Georgia with his wife, Dr. Andrea Barnwell Brownlee, PhD, and young daughter.
