Michael joined the Woodruff Arts Center in October 2006 as the Vice President of Operations. Michael has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of facilities operations, 15 of which he has spent as a highly successful facilities management executive. Before joining the Woodruff Arts Center, Michael most recently held the position of District Manager for Facility Technical Services at Sodexo, Inc a global contract management firm. Michael directly managed a staff of 16 general managers (healthcare facilities executives) in the southeast at hospitals and healthcare facilities. In 1998, Mike joined Sodexo as Director of Engineering at Montgomery Hospital Medical Center in Norristown, PA where his responsibilities included facilities operations (maintenance/repair, planning, engineering, and construction management). Sodexo promoted Mike in 2001 to District Manager for the southeast region based in Atlanta, Ga.
Mike received the bulk of his experience from management positions in healthcare facilities serving as the Assistant Director of Facilities Management at a 150-bed psychiatric hospital – Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment in Philadelphia, Pa.; and as the Director of Facilities Management at Albert Einstein Medical Center, a 1000-bed healthcare system in Philadelphia, Pa.
In 2006, Michael was acknowledged in several articles published in Diversity/Careers in Engineering and Information Technology magazine and honored by Science Spectrum magazine as one of the top minorities in science. Michael is a member of the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) and the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).
Michael holds a BS degree in Business Management from Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia, PA and is a Licensed Operating Engineer. Starting his career in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence CV 62 in engineering from 1983 to 1989 where he served as a marine engineer, supervising propulsion systems and the catapults that launch jets.
He and his wife Suzanne reside in Mableton, Ga. with their two children.
