Outreach and Engagement of Diverse and Underserved Populations Initiative

The Woodruff Arts Center recognizes the structural issues within the arts sector that limit access to art to certain segments of our communities. The Woodruff aims to tackle this issue head on by initiating an enterprise wide effort to lower barriers to accessing the arts, as participants as well as audience members, for segments of our community who are traditionally barred by socio‐economic limitations.  The Arts Access Initiative will provide opportunities for discounted tickets to performances on campus and in-school, tours and scholarships for classes.   Additionally, we see the necessity to develop talent, especially in traditionally underserved African American and Latin American populations. Using the best practices of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Talent Development Program, we propose to develop a campus‐wide talent development program for underserved populations.
