Woodruff Arts Center volunteers play an essential role in inspiring and engaging the hundreds of thousands of patrons who visit the Center each year. Our volunteers work in an exciting, fun and diverse atmosphere. Whatever your skills, interest or time availability, we invite you to explore our volunteer opportunities and discover the right program for you. 

ABOUT THE WOODRUFF CORPS

The Woodruff Corps is a diverse group of task-oriented, hands-on volunteers, ranging from students to retirees. They represent a cross-section of the metro-Atlanta community connected through a shared love for the arts and their community. These volunteers serve as an essential component of our volunteer effort, providing support to virtually all aspects of Center operations year-round.

Woodruff Corps members are a dedicated group of individuals who commit their time, talents, and resources to ensure that the Center is able to provide the highest level of arts programming and patron experiences in the Southeast.

As a member of the Woodruff Corps, you will have the chance to engage with patrons visiting the Woodruff’s four artistic divisions for ongoing, seasonal and special events including Symphony concerts, theatre productions, educational and family-centered programs, college nights and community programming.

WOODRUFF CORP VOLUNTEER REQUIRMENTS
All qualified candidates must meet the following requirements: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to perform the required duties for the preferred volunteer role
  • Must be willing to complete the orientation and training cycle

WOODRUFF CORPS ORIENTATION/TRAINING

All Corps volunteers are required to attend an orientation session annually. These sessions are designed to inform volunteers about general policies and procedures as well as details about available opportunities and shift schedules.  

Corps volunteer orientations are generally held once or twice per year, at the start of each performing season, in August/September.

WOODRUFF CORP VOLUNTEER ROLES:

Patron Services Representatives
Patron Services Volunteers are the first point of contact for guests visiting the Woodruff Arts Center and set the tone for a superb patron experience. They are responsible for welcoming guests to the Arts Center in a friendly and courteous manner, directing patrons while on the floor, and responding to guest questions in a thoughtful and informative fashion. Our Patron Services Volunteers will be placed at various locations on the campus of the Woodruff Arts Center during symphony concerts, theatre productions, and special events. Must have strong customer service and communication skills.

Shifts: Matinees: Saturday/Sunday, generally 12:30-3:30pm or 1:30-4:30pm; arrive 1 hour prior to start of the concerts and work through intermission (approx. 3 hrs.)

Evening Performances: Tuesday-Sunday, generally 6:30-9:30pm or 7:00-10:00pm; arrive one hour prior to the start of the performance and work through intermission; Dual performance nights have staggered intermissions so additional time may be required to staff through both.

Community Ambassadors
Community Ambassadors play an important role in the outreach and engagement efforts of the Woodruff Arts Center’s marketing department. Volunteers become knowledgeable about the Arts Center, its Artistic Divisions and its programs and will provide information to current and potential patrons at events and festivals both on campus and in the community. Seeking strong communication skills, enthusiasm, a positive attitude and ability to interact well with others!

Shifts: Shifts are scheduled on an as-needed basis and will vary by event.

Special Events Volunteers  
Special events volunteers are versatile, task-oriented Corp members who are open to performing whenever duties arise. They are notified by email or phone about upcoming opportunities, and can therefore determine when to volunteer based on their availability.
