Letter from the Chairmen
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”

Kids and the arts just go together (and as you can see, that goes for kids of all ages!). While the Woodruff has programs and performances for everyone, we’re especially keen on kids. Our extensive arts education program for young people - unsurpassed in the nation - shows we’re serious about kids, art, learning and fun!

Your support of the Woodruff Arts Center opens many opportunities to learn and share. The exciting growth of the Woodruff – now one of the top three arts centers in the country – sets the stage for the theme of this year’s annual report and of our Annual Corporate Campaign.

You have seen the physical growth of the Woodruff campus, culminating in the opening of the thrilling new $150+ million additions orchestrated by world-renowned architect Renzo Piano. Now we look to the future opening of a new Symphony Center.

The Woodruff Arts Center, however, is not just a collection of beautiful and exciting new buildings in Atlanta. It is a vibrant group of artists and volunteers – supported by your energy and dollars – that celebrate the arts, opening them up, and making them more accessible, understandable and fun, to people all across Georgia and beyond. In this sense, the Woodruff isn’t an “arts center” as much as it is a “center for the arts.”

Through hundreds of programs offered by the Alliance Theatre, High Museum of Art, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Young Audiences and the 14th Street Playhouse, the Woodruff Arts Center has become a vital source of expression, education and knowledge across the spectrum of the arts and across the state. For children, whose minds and perspectives are still forming, the arts can create even bigger openings – both in academic performance and overall success in life. Educators and artists have the power to enrich, even change, children’s lives.

Our education programs and initiatives reach school children throughout Georgia over a million times a year. We also provide continuing education for adults and certification and support resources for teachers. The catalog of our educational offerings can be found here.
