There is no substitute for the experience of live
music. I see it every day. It helps my students think more critically,
feel more passionately and express themselves more uniquely.

Winner of 26 GRAMMY Awards®,
the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra touches a half-million people each season
during impassioned concerts at home and abroad. It is one of the
youngest American orchestras to achieve global prominence and the leading
cultural organization in the Southeast. Featuring both moving interpretations
of the classics and bold new works by modern composers, the Symphony continues
to impress with hundreds of concerts each season. For younger audiences,
the Symphony offers many ways to get involved
in the joys of music making. Its members teach, coach and mentor
young musicians on the stage and in studios and classrooms; many of its
concerts are especially designed with young people in mind.
What
we offer:
• Field trips to interactive concerts performed by Grammy® Award-winning
Symphony musicians that tie music to the curriculum for students in grades
PreK-12.
• Pre- and post-concert teacher and classroom education/enrichment
materials that are ready to use, curriculum-based and designed for specific
grade levels and developmental skills.
• For talented young students, individual, professional-level mentoring,
instruction and performance opportunities with Symphony musicians.
• In-school music enrichment opportunities—many of which teachers
may customize to meet specific curriculum needs—for students in
all grade levels.
How we help you:
• The Symphony’s Young People’s Concerts introduce students
in three different age groups to the inner-workings of a professional
symphony orchestra. Educational and fun, these concerts focus each year
on a distinct theme that makes curriculum connections between classical
music and other disciplines.
• Exceptional materials created to supplement Young People’s
Concerts help you prepare students for field trips and extend the experience
across many subjects when you return to the classroom.
• Programs such as Sound Learning and Young Classical Musicians bring
the Symphony experience directly to your school; programs like the Atlanta
Symphony Youth Orchestra and Talent Development put your school’s
most talented performers together with professional Symphony musicians
who help prepare them for advanced study and careers in music.
• Dozens of concerts and special programming designed specifically
for young people provide ways to expose students to classical music and
its contributions to contemporary thinking.
