SCHOOL PROGRAMMING
DANCE (continued)
Lisa
Chyn (An Fong Dance Ensemble)
The magnetic Lisa Chyn—both a teacher and
international dance artist—performs traditional Chinese dance during
a solo performance or with her dance ensemble. Also known as An Fong,
Chyn is the founder and director of the Lisa Chyn Ensemble and the An
Fong Dance Company, both of which have entertained and enlightened audiences
throughout the United States.
China Through Dance
Wearing the exquisite costumes of traditional Chinese dancers, Chyn and
company demonstrate Chinese dances—The Sliver Plate Dance, Ribbon
Dance, Umbrella Dance and more. Students participate with Chinese fans
and ribbons, signatures of Chinese artistry.
China Through
Music
Through the gu-zheng (Chinese zither or table harp) and the ar-hu (a two-string
fiddle), students learn about an ancient culture’s history and artistic
legacy.
