The Denied Mother - Woodruff Arts Center Written, directed and produced by Barry Hand, The Denied Mother is a satirical look at what transpires when Mrs. Plasy McGhee, an aging woman from storm-damaged New Orleans, is forced to stay with her wealthy son, Dr. Solomon McGhee and his ill-tempered wife, Iris McGhee. The play turns to riotous laughter when Plasy’s sister, the strange and comical Big Aintie, arrives to stay in the home to go to her class reunion. Big Aintie cheers Plasy with her antics, but creates a great annoyance for Iris.
