The Annual Giving Officer engages prospects, donors, and other members of the community in philanthropic support of The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. He/she actively manages a prospect portfolio, identifies and qualifies new prospects, makes discovery calls, and builds a pool of new prospects and past donors at the $2,500 – $50,000 level.
The Annual Giving Officer has a focus on engaging, stewarding, and growing the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Advisory Council. The Advisory Council is a newly formed group of passionate and engaged individuals that act as a resource for the ASO Board and staff.
The Annual Giving Officer also initiates gift strategies, cultivates and solicits prospects through personal visits and written communication. He/she works closely with colleagues to implement strategic approaches to increase the donor base and build a robust pipeline of support for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
• Typically, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and some holidays
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• In coordination with department leadership, mange, prospect, cultivate, and steward the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Advisory Council.
• Qualify and manage prospects for the best ongoing philanthropic support of ASO, moving prospects to the major gift team as/when appropriate and receiving leadership giving prospect referrals from the major gift team.
• Manage a portfolio of donors capable of giving at the $2,500-$50,000 level.
• Articulate the value of supporting the goals and mission of the institution as well as priority programs like the Annual Fund, Education/Community fund, and the Artistic Initiatives fund. Work closely with the Individual and Stewardship teams in executing appropriate stewardship efforts, engagement activities and special fundraising initiatives.
• Identify Individual level donors for outreach efforts and portfolio inclusion.
• Partner with ASO volunteers to engage new supporters as well as lead peer solicitation initiatives.
• Enter and update prospect and donor contact reports, plans screens and proposals in the Tessitura database according to established protocols.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Three to five years of experience in non-profit fundraising in a complex institution
Skills and Abilities:
• General knowledge and application of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies and techniques required
• Outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to be discreet and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
• Demonstrated independent, mature judgment
• Ability to consistently maintain a professional image and demeanor
• Strong problem-solving skills combined with a collaborative approach
• Ability to successfully prioritize to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Knowledge of orchestral music is highly desirable
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to learn and use various database and planning software
• Must be able to travel between to local or regional meetings
