Woodruff Arts Center Educator Conference Event Update
The Woodruff Arts Center Educator Conference scheduled to occur in person (June 2-3, 2020) is canceled.
Educators are encouraged to attend the Alliance Theatre Educator Conference virtually this June.
Registration is now open!
Participants have the option to select one of two ticket types:
- Two Day Ticket: $50 (Includes: Orientation & Keynote, Alliance@work sessions on June 2, plus access to both breakout sessions scheduled on any other one day)
- All Access Ticket: $100 (Includes: access to all conference events and workshops)
We are thrilled to share that the Alliance Theatre Educator Conference will feature a keynote presentation from Pearl Cleage, Distinguished Artist in Residence, and Andrea Pinkney, Author, who will engage in a conversation on expanding hearts and minds, their recent experiences, and motivations for the future.
Alliance Theatre Educator Conference
The Alliance Theatre Educator Conference: Expanding Hearts and Minds will occur virtually June 2-25, 2020. Designed to serve educators of all grade levels (Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12) and all content areas, this event will focus on new strategies and best practices in Performing Arts Instruction (Theater, Dance/Movement, Dramatic Writing), Arts Integration, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Over the course of four weeks, participants will connect with outstanding theater professionals and engage in up to (16) interactive breakout sessions, all while exploring the Alliance Theatre’s upcoming season and reconnecting to the theatre’s mission – expanding hearts and minds on stage and off – during this unprecedented time.
As Atlanta’s national theater, we are thrilled to invite participants from the Atlanta metro area, the state of Georgia, and beyond to join us for this event. Conference sessions are scheduled to accommodate attendees participating from different time zones and around other summertime commitments.
The conference will meet virtually every Tuesday and Thursday from June 2-25, 2020. Each conference day includes two distinct workshops: Workshop 1 (11 AM – 12:30 PM EDT) and Workshop 2 (2 – 3:30 PM EDT).
Additionally, each conference day focuses on a specific topic and grade level:
- Tuesday, June 2: Orientation and Keynote; Alliance@work for Educators
- Thursday, June 4: Dramatic Writing (High School)
- Tuesday, June 9: Arts Integration (Elementary School)
- Thursday, June 11: Dance/Movement
- Tuesday, June 16: Arts Integration and STEAM (Early Childhood)
- Thursday, June 18: Theater
- Tuesday, June 23: Arts Integration and STEAM (Middle and High School)
- Thursday, June 25: Presentation of Research; STEAM (Elementary School)
Professional Learning Hours
The Alliance Theatre Educator Conference offers up to (24) hours of Professional Learning (16 sessions @ 90 minutes each). Following the event, each participant will receive a certificate to document the total number of professional learning hours completed.
Districts and schools that send large groups to the event are eligible for the following discounts: Groups of 5+ (10% off) and Groups of 10+ (15% off). If you are interested in making arrangements for a large group, please contact email@example.com.
Conference attendees will receive a conference kit, either by delivery or pick up, while supplies last. Conference kits will contain items to enhance the conference experience, but no materials are essential for participation in the event.
Delivery (to a preferred mailing address):
Participants must register by Friday, May 22 to guarantee on-time delivery of the conference kit by mail. Participants who register on or after Saturday, May 23 may request delivery service; however, on-time arrival cannot be guaranteed and pick up service is encouraged.
Pick Up (drive-through at the Woodruff Arts Center):
- Friday, May 29 (12 PM – 2 PM)
- Saturday, May 30 (2 PM – 4 PM)
- Friday, June 12 (10 AM – 12 PM)
Please note that the Alliance Theatre team will conscientiously follow best practices in social distancing throughout the pick up process.
